CarShield Field was first built in 1998, and for much of its history was known as the T.R. Hughes Ballpark. The stadium gained its current name in 2016 when its surface was replaced by synthetic turf. Apart from its use by professional baseballers, the CarShield Field also sees use by the St. Louis Youth Soccer Association and the Missouri State High School Activities Association.
The CarShield Field is known for its manual scoreboard and attached playground and basketball court. The stadium also features themed seating areas such as the Picnic Perch, Birdeye Suites and Screech Suites. In 2007, the CarShield Field made history when it became the site of the longest baseball game ever recorded, which lasted for more than 39 hours.
